Bad Habits You Need To Break

It might not look like it, but Spring is just around the corner and what better time for a Spring clean of your life. It’s a good time to think about what you DON’T want and some of the bad habits you should stop to improve your life.

Hitting the snooze button

Have you ever wished you had more time? Well you do and all you have to do is say goodbye to your snooze button. The next time your alarm goes off, try to get up straight away. You’ll most likely find you’ll get more done, you won’t be rushing around and you might even get time to sit down and enjoy breakfast. Not getting those few more mins of zzz’s in the morning will also improve your overall sleep quality. A good tip is to leave your alarm clock or phone either far away from your bed, or better still, outside your room. Good luck snoozing with a screaming alarm in the background!

Constantly checking your phone

It’s so hard to disconnect from social media, emails, group chats, etc, especially when you have notifications popping up every 10 seconds. Learning to pay attention to people around you and your surroundings is important. Constantly refreshing your newsfeed or checking for notifications can lead to anxious behaviour. Try turning off notifications at certain times, lift your head up and enjoy real life and what’s happening around you.

Doing everything the same way

Routine is good, but too much of the same thing can get boring to the point where the thing that you’re doing stops being enjoyable. Doing the same thing over and over can be limiting to you. You should challenge and excite your body and mind. If you do the same workouts over and over you’ll stop seeing results, so change things up a bit. Take up a new hobby or sign up to a class. Break that monotonous routine.

Not putting your health first

Without running the risk of sounding like a cliché, your health truly is your wealth so why are you not putting it first? That means your mental health and your physical health. Set time aside to do something that your mind will thank you for. Take time to do something each day that makes you happy. Go to the gym, if not the gym, go for a walk, but get those limbs moving. Eat well, drink water and be kind to your body.

Body shaming

There is so much negativity and pressure in society and even more so on social media. We see beautiful images of gorgeous girls with toned bodies, the flattest tummies and a peachy bum all the time. But don’t let your inner voice and thoughts add to that. Don’t look in the mirror and think you’re ugly or fat or not enough. It’s what’s on the inside that counts. Your happiness counts and confidence is one of the most beautiful things a girl can have. If you want to make positive changes, work towards that, but always with a positive mindset. Improve the already beautiful loved version of you if you have to, but don’t hate yourself and change how and who you are because of a negative thought in your head.

Old habits are hard to break, take one at a time, think positively and you’ll do it.
